Impressive mountain modern home has expansive views of the Rocky Mountains

craftsman-exterior

Berglund Architects has created this mountain modern home nestled on an expansive 35-acre property just outside of the vibrant town of Silverthorne in Summit County, Colorado. This home was positioned on its site to take full advantage of the breathtaking views of the east side of the Gore Range, a mountain range in the Rocky Mountains. Featuring six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms, the residence serves as both a family getaway and a space for reflection and spiritual renewal.

The high curved ceilings opening up to the sky and the transparent window wall were designed to connect the home’s occupants and the landscape. Conversely, the game room and cozy sitting areas focused around the indoor and outdoor fireplaces and master suite located in a separate structure connected with a glass walkway off the great room, provide tranquility and privacy. The architects spent extensive time with their clients walking the 3.5-acre site to determine the perfect location for the home. They even went as far as to set up camp chairs and tables on the spot to sketch up the concept design for the home. The main level encompasses a great room, master suite, family office, guest master, mudroom, and 3-car garage. On the lower level, you will find three bedrooms, each with its own bathrooms, a bunk room, a large family room with a bar and pool table, laundry, and a mechanical room.

What We Love: This fabulous mountain modern home is surrounded by gorgeous scenery, with a dramatic backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. An exquisite exterior facade features visually appealing rooflines and material elements of wood and stone. The interior is just as beautiful, with open and spacious living areas and a fantastic connection to the outdoors. We are especially loving the inviting living room with soaring ceilings, a stone-clad fireplace, and impressive views!!

I love this design. I want it in a smaller version, though. Just a small country home on my land with high ceiling, big fireplace, and lots of windows and outdoor space. One bedroom, and a large walk I shower. Storage.

That’s a lot of money for an otherwise boring design.

I’ll play. Why don’t you tell us how the interior design excels in basic architectural spatial organization, materiality, lighting, and raw user experience. I see nothing here beyond base filigree. While you’re at it, let’s discuss circulation, hierarchy, and zoning. Anything here that bests a large tract home? I don’t see it.

My view? Ocean. Duplex? No, owned SFH. But small, cozy, and Zen. By choice. How about you?
