This mountain-inspired home in Raleigh, North Carolina, was designed for a local real estate developer and their family, who love heading out west to ski. That’s exactly what they had in mind when they sat down with Rufty Custom Built Homes and Remodeling to bring the design to life.

Over the years, they had fallen in love with nature-inspired, lodge-style homes and knew they wanted to bring that inspiration into the home they planned to build in North Carolina. The homeowners were drawn to natural elements such as stone and wood. They wished to incorporate that style into their home, without veering into a completely rustic design.

A Mountain-Inspired Exterior in Raleigh, North Carolina

It was important for them to strike a balance between the natural and the contemporary. “Because of our desired aesthetic, some materials we wanted, such as western red cedar, were not readily available in the area, but Rufty Homes was able to find a supplier for us and at a great price. They continually went above and beyond for us,” states the homeowner about this project.

What We Love About This Home

This beautiful home, boasting mountain-inspired living, was designed to be in harmony with nature. Rustic details collide with contemporary elements throughout this masterfully created dwelling. We are especially loving how the builder’s handcrafted small details for big visual impact, such as the wine corks encased in a glass wall.

Tell Us: Do you find the design of this home to offer a relaxing atmosphere? If there were any details in the design that you could change, what would they be and why in the Comments below!

Sometimes when walking up the stairs, we say to each other, ‘We can’t believe we’re actually living in this house.’ Rufty Homes truly made our dream home a reality,” states the homeowners. We have to agree, this home is an architectural masterpiece!

A Hand-Built Floating Stone Hearth Anchors the Living Room

A Wine Cellar Wall Inspired by a Trip to Aspen

Above: Another creative idea in this mountain-inspired living masterpiece was the glass cork-filled wall between the dining area and the wine room. The idea was inspired by a family trip to Aspen, Colorado, where the homeowners were drawn to a similar idea in a restaurant they had visited. To use the formal dining room, they wished for their space to be interesting, something for everyone to look at no matter where they were seated at the table.
