Berglund Architects designed this stunning mountain house, which features a modern architectural style that seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor living spaces. It is nestled in the Vail Valley, just west of the famous ski and resort towns of Vail, Colorado. The house boasts a striking curved roofline and a spacious deck that is perfect for entertaining or relaxing. The lower level includes a cozy outdoor seating area surrounded by lush landscaping, offering the ultimate retreat with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding hills.

Natural materials such as stone and wood harmonize with the property’s serene, picturesque environment. The homeowners’ main objective for their 4,500-square-foot dwelling was to create a sophisticated, cost-effective mountain modern home integrated into the site. The home features beautiful natural materials inside and out, large windows and doors brings in an abundance of natural light while framing the nearly 360-degree views, and amazing indoor-outdoor living.

The walkout lower level features three elegant private guest suites and an inviting family room perfect for entertaining. This space includes a bar, a stunning glass wine room, beautifully lit built-ins, a coffered ceiling with indirect lighting, and a fireplace that seamlessly integrates the TV into a sophisticated blend of steel and stone, minimizing its appearance when not in use. Additionally, there is a covered patio with a built-in hot tub.

The modern expression of the exposed steel, curved roofs, and floor-to-ceiling windows, complemented by refined curved wood beams, wood ceilings, rich oak floors, and organic stone on the fireplaces, fulfills the homeowner’s vision of a sophisticated gathering space that also serves as a soothing, comfortable place to relax.

The abundant natural light from the extensive windows, which capture magnificent 360-degree views, creates an uplifting environment that the owner claims positively affects the emotions of anyone in the house.

The private owner’s bedroom suite wing is located on a secluded part of the property, connected to the house by a glass corridor / shared office. It features a spa-like bath equipped with a rejuvenating freestanding tub set within the surrounding landscape, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The suite also features an outdoor shower that the homeowner uses nearly every summer day. An open corner fireplace is offset to the corner to allow for stunning floor-to-ceiling windows.
