This modern mountain farmhouse, reimagined by Purple Cherry Architects, offers sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Etlan, Virginia. This home is the result of an extensive renovation that combined an old post-and-beam barn with a new addition. The homeowner, who regularly hiked beloved Old Rag Mountain as a child, envisioned a spacious weekend mountain retreat where extended family could also gather for holidays.
The residence thoughtfully incorporates reclaimed timbers from the original barn and stone found on the farm with modern materials such as board and batten siding, standing seam metal roofing, and cable railing. Expansive windows and a glass link connecting the new addition take advantage of idyllic mountain views, while also offering direct access to a covered Ipe deck and bluestone paved pool.
