This midcentury modern home, nestled in the Los Gatos foothills of California, has undergone a complete renovation by Cathie Hong Interiors. The designer made many updates to the house, including significant layout changes to the original midcentury kitchen.
She loved the retro materials. However, the layout was suboptimal, with the kitchen terminating in a tight dead end of shallow cabinets. The hood was broken, the cabinets werenโt closing correctly, and the fridge was on the main walking path.
The new layout allowed for improved circulation, modern paneled appliances, a spacious island for the kids to do homework while eating an after-school snack, and an updated rendition of the original material palette. Continue below to see more of this home’s gorgeous transformation…

What We Love: This midcentury home was beautifully updated to offer a fresh, modern aesthetic while honoring its original architectural character.
