1940s Colonial Revival house gets a remarkable transformation in Pennsylvania

Peter Zimmerman Architects, together with Rittenhouse Builder, is responsible for the renovation and expansion of this 1940s Colonial Revival house located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. They created a new roofline and a large 3-story addition for a new kitchen, multiple gathering spaces, and a finished basement. Outside, the project team added a new exterior deck and screened-in porch. They further embellished the curb appeal with a flagstone patio, a driveway, and lush landscaping.

The exterior facade was unified by painting it white, transforming previously mixed materials and colors into a clean, cohesive look. Subtle architectural details and refreshed landscaping further elevate the home’s curb appeal. This update creates a more contemporary home designed for a young, active family of six. Continue below to see more of this spectacular home transformation…

What We Love About This Home

This Colonial Revival house in Pennsylvania offers a beautifully renovated setting with standout curb appeal. Thoughtful updates blend classic architecture with modern comforts, creating spaces that feel both timeless and functional. Durable yet stylish furnishings make it ideal for family living and entertaining. We are loving the attention to the small details, such as the leaf green wallpaper in the bathroom, the green cabinets in the bar, and the beadboard ceiling in the sunroom.
