Joan Heaton Architects designed this modern rustic home in the charming town of Richmond, Vermont, to maximize views of one of the state’s highest peaks. The three-bedroom Bear Creek Home fits this family and their lifestyle like a glove. The kitchen and dining area open onto a patio and covered porch, providing many connected spaces for family and friends to congregate. A double-sided stone fireplace can be enjoyed from the kitchen and dining area as well as the living room.
The client was also the builder, and they have a specialty metal shop where they execute custom details, such as steel and glass doors, range hoods, railings, and chimney caps in-house. Landscape architects, Wagner Hodgson, were brought in at the beginning of this project to help with siting the driveway and house, and to plan tree clearing to maintain beauty and privacy while allowing for amazing views.
