Pearson Design Group has crafted this gorgeous contemporary lake house to support a family on lake living, perched between the shores of Flathead Lake and the forested canopy of Flathead National Forest. The design distills the lake cottage vernacular into a crisp, contemporary expression—combining familiar rooflines and proportions with bold window massing that captures expansive views and abundant daylight.
Regionally sourced cedar, Douglas fir, and stone root the home in its setting, offering warmth, texture, and longevity. Inside, a natural palette of warm whites and oak tones creates a calm, refined atmosphere. Layered textures and restrained detailing shape an interior designed for quiet retreat—comfortable, understated, and connected, laid back lake living.

What We Love About This Home
This contemporary lake house keeps things simple without feeling sparse, letting cedar, Douglas fir, and stone do most of the work while walls of glass bring in the lake and mountains beyond. We especially love the screened porch swing and the vaulted great room with its stone fireplace, both built for spending time together without much fuss. Nothing here feels overdone, and the whole home is built for lake life enjoyment, with early coffee on the porch and late nights by the fire.
Tell Us: What do you think of this contemporary lake house’s quiet, materials-first approach to lakeside living? Would you trade a busier floor plan for this kind of calm, connected layout? Let us know in the Comments below!
