Fowler Interiors, in partnership with The Berry Group, has renovated this serene lake house featuring a neutral palette and layered textures that complement the fabulous views of Lake Keowee in South Carolina. The project is known as “Fort George”, a beautiful transformation that honors the home’s original character while reimagining every interior space.

The striking rustic craftsman shingle exterior, with its cedar shake siding, stone-arch entry bridge, and twig railings, was carefully preserved, while the interiors were completely reimagined as a bright, contemporary lakefront home.

The renovation encompasses a soaring living room with a vaulted ceiling and a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, a beautifully updated kitchen with coffered ceilings, a custom bunk room, a moody, dark-paneled study, a marble shower, and one of the home’s most unforgettable features, a cascading, multi-tiered waterfall flowing beneath the entry bridge.

What We Love About This House

What we love most about this home is how seamlessly the old and new come together. The rugged exterior feels like it has always belonged to the landscape, while the interiors surprise you with their lightness and refinement. The cascading waterfall feature is truly one of a kind, turning an everyday arrival into a tranquil experience. Despite the scale of the renovation, every room feels genuinely livable and warm rather than overly polished.
