This home captures the timeless character of Santa Fe adobe houses with refined comfort and enduring craftsmanship.
This unique residence began as log cabin barns in northern New Mexico before being moved to Santa Fe in the 1970s, where multiple structures were combined into a home. Old wood was recycled for both exterior and interior features, preserving its authentic charm while honoring Historic Preservation Santa Fe.
The architect’s updates included removing defunct solar elements, reroofing, and filling gable ends with diamond shingles to enhance the barn aesthetic, while integrating the timeless character of Santa Fe Style Architecture and Adobe Architecture.

Thoughtful design choices balanced what to restore, replace, or leave untouched, blending the legacy of the old barn with the sophistication of Santa Fe living. A new kitchen, powder room, and fireplace were added, while retaining the old chink floors and building on the sophisticated use of beautiful original materials, including found doors, and a Mary Austin–inspired painting on the fireplace.
