This mountainside retreat, designed by TS Adams Studio in collaboration with Catherine Brown Paterson Interior Design, is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Cashiers, North Carolina. Tucked into a granite-framed hillside, this residence embraces mountain views, garden moments, and refined rustic architecture.
Set within a sheltered mountainside clearing, this home was designed in response to a natural granite outcropping and the pocket garden it protects. The structure embraces the land—enveloping a central courtyard, revealing sweeping views, and creating a sense of seclusion.

Native materials and crisp detailing strike a balance between warmth and refinement. Stone, timber, and copper carry from exterior to interior, lending permanence and making the house read as an extension of its mountainside setting.

Step inside this inviting home to find a harmonious color scheme that mirrors the surrounding natural beauty. Luxurious, soft fabrics complement the rustic charm of indigenous stone structures. Welcoming gas lanterns gently illuminate the entrance, creating an inviting ambiance for guests seeking a sophisticated yet cozy hideaway.

Inside, smooth oak paneling, an open stairway, and bold accents reflect the owners’ style. Anchored by a dramatic porch and hidden wine cellar, the home feels both grounded and elevated—shaped entirely by its setting.

“This home was shaped by the land itself—every turn responds to the granite, the slope, and the mountain views,” states the architects.
