Built in 1927, this charming stone residence was renovated by Barnes Vanze Architects in partnership with interior designer Susan Beimler, located on nearly an acre in Washington, D.C. The English-style house was once the estate of a former U.S. Senator, constructed from solid granite quarried from Rock Creek Park. The extensive renovation adds charm and sophistication to the traditionally styled interiors, incorporating subtle modern touches.
Encompassing 8,500 square feet of living space, the property features six bedrooms and six bathrooms. The home is surrounded by extensive hardscaping and landscaped grounds. Layered gardens, a sizable 41’x18′ Swimming Pool with a Pool House, and a Croquet Court add to this spectacular property. Two gated entrances lead into the circular driveway, which features a two-car garage and ample space for parking when entertaining.

What We Love: This beautiful stone house was restored to its former glory, with gorgeous millwork, attractive coffered ceilings in the living room, and an elegant kitchen, among other standout features. We especially love the attractive exterior facade with its beautiful wood door, adding so much character, and surrounded by lush landscaping. Overall, we admire how this home perfectly blends timeless charm with thoughtful updates.
