A 1900s traditional foursquare farmhouse was renovated by Adams Beasley Associates in collaboration with LB Custom Projects, nestled in Concord, Massachusetts. Some small yet pertinent structural, spatial and aesthetic changes transformed this farmhouse into a cohesive home for a growing family. An addition in the 1980s created a complete disconnect from the original foursquare house. To remedy this, the project team extended the existing mudroom and expanded a new bathroom upstairs.
They also created some much-needed circulation by connecting the old and the new for the first time. This allowed for the removal of a back stairwell, along with freeing up additional space in the new living room. Additionally, a sagging garage was re-framed, while a large and imposing chimney was removed. New millwork and trim was installed throughout the interiors. The result is an open and spacious foursquare farmhouse that once again reflects its traditional roots, all while addressing the needs of a modern family.

What We Love: After beautifully renovating this foursquare farmhouse, the project team was able to create an bright and airy new layout. A feeling a spaciousness can be felt throughout this home, appeasing the lifestyle needs of a growing family… Readers, please tell us what what you think of the overall re-design of this family farmhouse in the Comments below!
