This striking contemporary home was designed by Conard Romano Architects, nestled on a bluff with views of Lake Washington and the Cascades beyond, in Seattle, Washington. The exterior facade of this residence offers more of a retrained presence on the street side. While at the rear of the property, expansive floor-to-ceiling windows frames sweeping views of the lake. Doug Rasar Interior Design was responsible for the interiors of this impressive lake house project.
A limited material palette consists of concrete, stone, wood and steel, intermingled to create a feeling of serenity throughout the interiors in addition to the outdoor terraces. The home features a ground source heat pump system for cooling and a green roof to manage storm water runoff. Designed to take advantage of its site, the home boasts contrasting mass and transparency to capture broad, unobstructed views while preserving privacy.
“Thick, thermally insulated concrete walls are layered and modulated on the street side of this residence, offering perfectly framed views from the west facing rooms,” states the architects. “This also adds depth and shadow to the exterior facade, while helping to orchestrate the entry sequence through the courtyard to the front door.”
What We Love: This breathtaking home features soaring ceilings and walls of windows that illuminates the home with natural light.
