This mountain modern home was designed by Reid Smith Architects to hover above the trees, maximizing its surrounding views in Big Sky, Montana. This residence is nestled into its wooded site of the prestigious community of the Club at Spanish Peaks. The area offers its residents rest and relaxation, surrounded by rugged beauty. This particular home is the only modern home in the development.
With impressive design features, highlights includes ample windows to showcase the views and an elegant structure. The open layout offers clean lines and seamless transitions. Teton Heritage Builders also worked on the project, using materials elements of stone, steel and timber in the design to help create a rugged sense of place. Woods integrated throughout the design includes alder, poplar and oak, adding warmth and continuity.

Frontier sandstone, which is native to the region, can be seen bridging the wall of the great room and kitchen together. The fireplace in the living area is comprised of cold-rolled steel, with a blackened patina finish. Additional material selections includes concrete, granite and marble for the hard surfaces. Interior designers Denton House infused this modern mountain retreat with warmth. The effect was created by layering textures and using colors that reflects the areas natural surroundings.

Above: The kitchen features an expansive island and concrete countertops with an integral sink. Open shelving on the side of the island allows for additional storage. Adding an industrial nuance to the space is the plate steel framed windows with a blackened patina.
Above: The master bedroom suite is the only bedroom that is located on the main level. A private balcony overlooks the mountains in the distance.
