MHK Architecture designed this refined lake house with luxurious details in collaboration with Cheatham Fletcher Scott, perched atop The Landing at Keowee Springs in Six Mile, South Carolina. From its idyllic location, this nearly 5,000-square-foot dwelling enjoys sweeping views of Lake Keowee and to the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains beyond.
This residence features low-pitched rooflines and an exquisite stone exterior facade that beautifully integrates with its natural surroundings. Inside, a luminous open-concept floor plan provides unobstructed sightlines from the living, dining, and kitchen areas, extending effortlessly to the outdoor space, thanks to glass and metal folding doors.
Above: In the living room, the designer selected low-slung contemporary furnishings so as not to distract from the breathtaking views of the lake and the mountain backdrop. Highlights of this space include a floor-to-ceiling, stone-clad fireplace, slatted wall treatment, and a wood-planked ceiling that adds warmth and a touch of rustic refinement.
The interior color scheme was thoughtfully selected to compliment this home’s natural surroundings. Throughout the living spaces, you will find muted tones that create a feeling of calm and tranquility. This helps to allow the outdoors and majestic lake views to be the star of the show. Designed for entertaining and relaxation, this idyllic home delivers on both.

What We Love: This refined lake house beautifully blends traditional Southern design elements with modern aesthetics. We love how most of the rooms in this home were designed to take advantage of the views, thanks to large windows, streamlined furnishings, and a muted color palette. The project team did a wonderful job of creating a home with a seamless indoor-outdoor connection to enjoy lakeside living at its finest. This residence is the ultimate dream vacation retreat to enjoy relaxing and entertaining.
