This residence was transformed into an incredibly stunning family vacation house by Visnick & Caulfield together with ST Studio Inc. in Osterville, a great little village on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This 2,300-square-foot summer getaway home is owned by the interior designer of this project, whose family spotted this home during the pandemic, taking weekend drives to escape the city.
The home’s location was very ideal, but it needed a major overhaul to meet the family’s lifestyle needs. They maintained the basic footprint of the home, but fully gutted the interior. Nestled on three-quarters of an acre, the property afforded the homeowners plenty of privacy and space for a brand-new swimming pool for the kids to enjoy.

Above: The design of this gorgeous kitchen was inspired by G.P. Schafer Architect’s seaside home in Brooklin, Maine. This space is flooded with natural light thanks to the ten-foot-tall window installed above the sink. The window frames peaceful views of mature-growth trees on the property, inviting nature inside. The ceiling beams are composed of reclaimed beams, painted to match the rest of the space.
The main level was completely overhauled with sliders for indoor-outdoor living. The color scheme was updated to give it more of a beach-chic vibe throughout. On the outside, landscape designer Leblanc Jones Landscape Architects was tasked with improving the overgrown property to allow natural light to flood into the interiors.
What We Love: This family retreat has been lovingly restored to showcase a beach-chic aesthetic with playful vibes throughout. The improved design allows for a better flow throughout the interiors along with a better indoor-outdoor connection. A new roof and copper gutters, along with a brand new swimming pool and pool house not only enhance the exterior design but also provide this family with wonderful outdoor spaces for summertime fun.

The designer reconfigured the original layout of the home for improved circulation and functionality. This included moving the power room to the center of the home, which once housed the laundry closet. The main area is now open and airy, with the laundry room relocated to the basement level. With this larger laundry space, the owners can now better accommodate their frequent summer guests with all of the changing of sheets and towels.
Upstairs, the bedrooms offer a cocoon-like respite from the open and airy main level where family and friends gather.
