David Heide Design Studio has completely transformed a once modest cabin into a beautiful retreat to welcome family and friends in a picturesque lakeside setting. The goal of this project called “Cottage Red” was to preserve the cozy cabin aesthetic while incorporating a blend of refined and rustic interior finishes. The design both elevates and enlarges the space with custom details and distinctive materials.

Striking a delicate balance between comfortable materials and expansive scale, our design successfully meets the challenge of accommodating gatherings of up to 30 people while still evoking the intimate ambiance of a cozy cabin. This transformed cabin now stands as a testament to both its humble origins and its newfound ability to host memorable gatherings in style.

What We Love: This lakeside cabin retreat provides a family with a newly transformed getaway to entertain loved ones. The peaceful surroundings are maximized through large windows, not only brightening up the home but helping to create a relaxed living environment. We love the ease of entertaining that this home provides with its pass-through windows in the kitchen and dining areas and the accessibility of the outdoor kitchen from the indoor kitchen.
