This European-inspired country home was designed by architect Steve Giannetti and designer Brooke Giannetti of Giannetti Home as their personal family home, located in the heart of Ojai, California. Called Patina Farm, this haven embodies a lifestyle of fresh air, open space, and calm, along with a slower pace of life.
This 4.67-acre estate was built in 2012 and encompasses a main house of 5,225 square feet with three bedrooms, four bathrooms, and two half bathrooms. There is also a guest house with 646 square feet of living space with one bedroom, and one bathroom. This property also features a lavender hill, vegetable garden, English David Austin Rose garden, white rose arbor and cutting garden, wildflower meadow, fruit trees, and idyllic pond and mountain views.
This fabulous dwelling blends a style and materials that are decidedly old-world with a modern, open floor plan and amenities. The layout provides a seamless flow throughout the home. Large glass window walls offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, inviting the outdoors in and enhancing the sense of spaciousness and tranquility.
Nestled amidst picturesque gardens, a serene pond, and breathtaking mountain vistas, Patina Farm provides plenty of space to wander and connect with nature.
The homeowners, Brooke and Steve Giannetti had begun their design career over thirty years ago. Drawing inspiration from historical architectural styles and their clients’ unique stories, they aim to create spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and deeply meaningful. Together, they run Giannetti Home, offering full-service architectural and interior design services, alongside an online boutique specializing in home furnishings.
After living in Los Angeles for over 25 years, the couple decided to move to Ojai and build their dream home, Patina Farm. With a strong connection with nature, the duo was influenced to embrace a more tranquil and mindful way of living. In more recent years, they expanded their focus to create a clothing and home decor line, all inspired by nature-based principles. Their dreamy estate also inspired them to write a series of design books.
The Giannetti’s had never entertained the possibility of selling their beloved home until they discovered an enchanting 100-acre property with a 150-year-old log cabin and antique barn that was idyllically nestled on a tranquil and lush farm in the Tennessee countryside — and it is aptly named “Patina Meadow”.
They have decided to part ways with their beloved farm and let a new caretaker love it as much as they did to explore a new chapter of their lives. You can follow along with the design duo’s new journey at their Patina Meadow farm on their Instagram account: @velvetandlinen.
In the three-bedroom, six-bathroom main house, every room provides a serene retreat with a soft color palette and dreamy hues. Antique barn beams add a rustic touch, creating a timeless ambiance where cherished memories are made.
What We Love: This European-inspired country home boasts gorgeous living spaces with a mix of Belgian and French architecture. Built-in antiques in the kitchen and antique beams in the ceiling, make it feel timeless. Throughout the interiors, the wonderful contemporary flow provides an open and airy feel while seamlessly connecting to the tranquil gardens that surround the home. We especially love the main bathroom with its outdoor garden shower.
