This stunning contemporary farmhouse was designed by Northworks Architects, nestled along Chicago’s Northshore, in Lake Forest, Illinois. Though the entire home is new, it was designed to appear as if several older structures were combined over the years to form a modernized farmhouse.
With the focus on creating a property that feels as if it’s been connected over time, the interior and exterior blend perfectly—as each is an integral part of the other. That seamlessness is further reinforced by the home’s subtle and extremely textural palette and blending of stone, wood, iron, and glass—both in the interior architecture as well as the décor. These simple elements create a rugged yet refined aesthetic.

What We Love: This gorgeous contemporary farmhouse in the Chicago suburbs is light, airy, and rustic. The wood, the stone, and the pops of black tie the concept so beautifully together. The well-appointed layout shows off an effortless fluidity between indoor and outdoor living while the textural palette captivates. Overall, we love the rugged yet refined look of this dwelling.
