CCY Architects has designed this striking modern refuge nestled into the hillside, overlooking a meandering creek below in Aspen, Colorado. Nestled on a sprawling 2.47-acre property, this incredible dwelling offers its inhabitants 9,918 square feet of living space. This bold contemporary house responds to and connects with its site and the environment.

The dwelling is conceived as three distinct pods seamlessly connected via transparent links. Each pod cantilevers over a solid foundation; where the cantilevers accentuate the steep ravine descent and elevate the inhabitants above the creek below. The pods push, pull, and rotate to create pockets of privacy within the context of the natural landscape.

Primary Materials: Board Form Concrete, Cedar, Zinc, and Glass

Flanked by the living and guest pods, the east outdoor room is shielded from a nearby bridge and focuses views across the ravine to a distant valley. The southwest lawn, bordered by the master and living pods, is carved into the site and enclosed by architectural concrete walls. Recessing the lawn into the grade creates added privacy from an adjacent right of way. Native vegetation extends to the site walls creating a Zen-like oasis in the landscape.

A fascinating exterior facade of board form concrete and glass invites visitors up to this home.
