Benchmark Design Studio and Mike Schaap Builders joined forces to create a beach house retreat catered to a family of five. Nestled in the lively town of Glen Arbor, overlooking the serene Sleeping Bear Bay on Lake Michigan, this remarkable residence stands as a testament to their collaboration.

With nearly a quarter-century spent summering in rented accommodations near friends, the family swiftly seized the opportunity to purchase a lot of their own. Enlisting the expertise of the project team, their vision for an ultimate compound that would accommodate multiple families harmoniously began to take shape.

Working in tandem, the project team meticulously crafted a floor plan that seamlessly blended open, social, and private spaces.

Aside from the kitchen, living room, and dining area, an array of additional features were thoughtfully incorporated. A sleeping porch, library, media room, five exquisite ensuite master bedrooms (one boasting a bunk bed for a family with children), eight bathrooms, and a dedicated bunk room capable of accommodating 16 guests were among the highlights.

Every nook and cranny was meticulously designed to provide captivating views of the great outdoors, whether it be the lush trees or the majestic lake. The result? Pure bliss.

From the serene sleeping porch to the inviting bunk room, every detail has been thoughtfully considered to provide a harmonious balance between comfort, functionality, and views of the breathtaking natural surroundings.
