A breathtaking rustic modern home in the Black Mountains of North Carolina

mountain-home-front-elevation-garage

This spectacular rustic modern home was designed by ACM Design, nestled along a Ridgeline of the Black Mountains of western North Carolina. Ideally located near the town of Asheville, this home blends the spare sensibility of Japanese design with the hewn details of an old Pennsylvania farmhouse. The open floor plan offers flow between the gathering spaces, proportioned specifically to minimize wasted space.

The rooms feature large expanses of windows that capture long-range mountain views along with natural sunlight during the majority of the day. The farmhouse-style kitchen harkens back to the owner’s childhood yet is equipped with modern amenities for an accomplished chef, including a that’s pantry reminiscent of a country store.

The architect designed exterior and interior spaces that have transformed this new house into an invitingly comfortable family home; one that feels as if it has existed for years, nestled into the surrounding mountain landscape, with interior warmth and charm.

As empty nesters, the homeowner’s intent was to downsize, by having rooms that function for multiple purposes — guest bedrooms that also serve as home offices and a dining nook for two that can expand into the adjacent open space living room for larger gatherings. They wanted to create spaces that could easily accommodate friends and family while retaining an intimate coziness for just the two of them.

Love this house, especially the red windows. Can you tell me what the other exterior paint colors are? Thanks

Can you share the floor plan?

Beautiful house…however, there are no Black Mountains in Asheville NC. Did you mean Blue Ridge Mountains? There is a town named Black Mountain about 15 minutes from Ashevlle but no Black Mountain Range.

As the builder…thanks for all the wonderful comments. I can say the architect and clients were great to work with and we were glad to be a part of the team. As for the comment above, there actually is a Black Mountain range just outside of the town of Black Mountain. Here’s a link. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Mountains_(North_Carolina)

Thanks again for all the nice comments!

I could move in today! I love the spaces, the colors, and the warmth. Every element of the design complements the others. The spaces are perfect size not too vast, nor too small. The exterior colors blend in with the outdoor surroundings. There is not one thing I wanted to change. I love the fireplaces, the porch, the kitchen, and the baths. All very lovely! The people who live here must be very happy, at least I would be!
