Nestled in the Rocky Mountains and surrounded by a grove of aspen trees, Suman Architects has designed this home to feel like living in a luxury treehouse. The Avon, Colorado site affords magnificent views from every direction while offering complete privacy and the tranquility of the aspen trees. The abundance of mature-growth trees on the property provides this home with a treehouse-like living experience.
One can enjoy this nature backdrop through large expanses of floor-to-ceiling glazing while relaxing in opulent gathering spaces. Maximizing the site, the architects embedded this home in the gently sloping landscape. They also positioned the garage into the hillside to enable all of the living spaces to capture both the views and natural light.

Above: The dual-sided fireplace provides a separation of spaces for this open floor plan while still feeling connected between the living spaces. It also refrains from obstructing views of the beauty outside, which is visible from each of this home’s living spaces.
Above: The kitchen was devised as a fully functioning kitchen, while not sacrificing the views outside. The homeowners wanted the wall behind the range and hood to be open, inviting the view of the gorgeous aspens into the space.
Above: A slab stone backsplash was cleverly devised to operate on a lift. When the range is being used, it offers protection for the window. When not in use, it is lowered, so as not to obstruct the views or daylight.
