This mountain modern zen house was designed by Living Stone Design + Build, perched on top of Elk Mountain with breathtaking views of the skyline of Asheville, North Carolina. For this project, the homeowners had a vision, “Hollywood Hills of Western NC.” Complimenting the natural views, the contemporary architecture opens over the city in the distance, evoking a wooded version of the LA neighborhood.
The homeowners’ wish list for their dwelling included a connection to the outdoors with copious amounts of natural light and a focus on biophilic design. The architects are the premier luxury green design firm in Asheville and were very focused on making this home as green as possible. This included minimizing the use of toxic materials in the building process, paint, and furnishings. This dwelling was constructed and furnished using low VOC and organic materials. It is also Aging in Place Certified.
What We Love: This mountain zen house offers a wonderful respite for its occupants with desirable views of the Asheville skyline. Created with healthy living in mind, we are loving all of the sustainable building materials that are employed in the design of this home. Clean lines and minimal details help to focus your view on the breathtaking scenery that is framed through large walls of glass throughout this beautiful dwelling.

Natural design elements can be found throughout this residence. This entails wooden finishes, such as built-in beds, and nightstands, that appear to be floating in the bedrooms, the cedar closet, and natural finishes on the case goods.
This organic theme helps to create a harmonious flow throughout, to produce a home that is minimalistic and modern, but still warm and inviting.
