Garden wall house is a beautiful and elegant home designed by Garret Cord Werner Architects, located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Encompassing 4,600 square feet of living space, this dwelling is positioned on a slope that is tucked back from the street, presenting a classic, timeless, and understated presence.
Concrete and cedar create an attractive contrast to the lush greenery surrounding the dwelling. By nestling the house into the ground, the design features two volumes on shifted planes with varying floor levels to highlight a playful circulation experience throughout the home.
The journey begins at the entry, located at the lower level, and leads into a sun drenched stairwell that is brilliantly day-lit from a window above.
With three bedrooms on the upper level and an additional bedroom and office on the lower level, the floorplan maximizes the use of space while simultaneously creating transparent, light-filled rooms that seek to blur the line between interior and exterior spaces.
What We Love: Garden wall house provides its occupants with a clean and contemporary home that takes full advantage of its site. Large windows capture the surrounding beauty of nature which is also brought into the interior with the living garden wall. The wall brings a striking visual feature into the home, with daylight provided from a large skylight above helping to illuminate its natural beauty.
