1. A Country Casual Sitting Area. A backyard in Bath, Ohio features this natural stone fireside sitting area encircling a firepit. Fashioned into a slope and surrounded by woodlands this outdoor fireplace was created with landstone LedgeRock, river gravel, and a corten metal grille ring. The backing stones are retaining the soil from a slight hill behind – perennial lavender is planted close by and is just visible. (via Healy Design)
2. Outdoor Living Room. A suburban Washington DC home features with inviting fireplace. The stone for the fireplace and retaining wall is Carter Rock, locally quarried. All of the exterior furniture is Kingsley-Bate upholstered with custom Sunbrella fabrics. The yellow ceramic Asian stool was purchased at an auction. 4. Freestanding Fireplace. This outdoor living space of a home in Atlanta, Georgia features a Tennessee stack stone fireplace. The designer used Ashlar cut stone and broken stack pieces. 5. Traditional Style Outdoor Fireplace. A hilltop property in Upstate New York features this warm and welcoming outdoor living space. The fireplace and wall are acting as a retaining wall against the woods behind for a length of 10′. The stone is locally quarried cut South Bay Quartzite which matches the walls. 7. Outdoor Entertainment Area. For this beautiful outdoor space in the New York countryside, the Isokern unit firebox is by Earthcore Industries with a 42″ opening. The sides are 18″ and the entire structure is about 11′ tall. The side benches are 42″ each and the log holders are 42″ wide each. The stone adheres to the sides with mortar and some re-bar pinned into the stone and side of the fireplace. The stone for the terrace is NY Blue bluestone pavers. 9. Outdoor Fireplace With Pergola Perimeter. This comfortable patio features comfortable furnishings set around a fireplace. The fireplace stone is Eden thin veneer stone. The furniture was purchased from Northwest Metal Craft in Arlington Heights, IL. The coffee table is by Patio Renaissance. The wood pergola was framed around the fireplace chimney. 10. Traditional Patio and Fireplace. This patio is set in a dry base (compacted aggregate and sand) and the joints are filled with polymeric sand. The stone is a full color “premium” Pennsylvania flagstone, with thermal bluestone for the caps. The bluestone caps were cut out of a full block at the quarry for consistency in color. The stone is a Tennessee field stone set in a random ashlar pattern. The flooring is Blue Stone in a random ashlar pattern. The dimensions of this outdoor living space are approximately 20′ x 20′. 13. Elegant Alfresco Dining. A home in Portland, Oregon features a cozy patio encircled by gardens for privacy. In front of a large wood-burning stone fireplace, one can enjoy a wonderful outdoor living and dining experience with family and friends. This fireplace was custom designed and built by Stone Sculptures Inc. located in Vancouver, Washington. The material under the furniture is 1/4″ gravel. 15. Cape Cod Style Patio. Located next to a backyard pool of a home in Capistrano Beach, California, this cozy outdoor living space is defined by a pergola. Teak furnishings from the Patio Outlet with a drum table from R.J. Imports is arranged in front of the fireplace. A piece of glass is set over the drum table, which is filled with beach sand and shells during the summer months and pine cones for the holidays. 16. Outdoor Living Room. This outdoor oasis of a home in Portland, Oregon features a stone fireplace with a covered structure and slate patio. The fireplace dimensions are 5′ side to side, by 8-10′ tall, by 3′ front to back. The firebox is approximately 2 1/2 feet, and the slant is at approximately 5′. 17. Outdoor Dreamscape. This outdoor entertaining space was designed with casual elegance in Westchester County, New York. The goal of this project was to create a welcoming respite for family stay-cations. Being close to the street, soft evergreen hedges and billowing flowering shrubs help to muffle the sounds of the street noise while providing privacy. This nature-infused space is used as an outdoor living/dining and kitchen area. The old-world stone fireplace and pergola are perfect for gathering. Lush gardens and mature growth trees provide privacy and a sense of calm. The trees behind the waterfall are Yoshino Cryptomeria. 20. Trellis Patio. The outdoor oasis exudes the California lifestyle. To protect from the elements, an awning cover was installed over the trellis. Low voltage cables were routed into the top side of the rafters where small low voltage LED puck lights are installed. The fireplace features a natural stone raised hearth with a poured in place concrete cap. The furnishings were sourced from a local retailer.
