What We Love: This modern french country home showcases a gorgeous transformation throughout the living spaces. The home is now more functional to meet the lifestyle needs of its inhabitants and is up to date with today’s current design trends. An exquisite material palette and stylish finishes and furnishings are found throughout, making this home feel luxurious, warm, and welcoming. Above: In the kitchen, the island pendant lights are the Lorford Smoke Bell Lanterns by E.F. Chapman for Visual Comfort. The custom cabinets and open shelving are white oak with a light driftwood stain, designed by Oregon-based MW Design Workshop. The countertops are Cambria quartz. Underneath the custom plaster hood is a Bertazzoni Range.

Above: The project team expanded the footprint and reorientated this bathroom to create a luxury, spa-like experience. The light fixtures were sourced from Arteriors Lighting. The floor tile is marble with a mosaic inlay.

Above: The mirror in the bathroom was designed and custom made for this house — fabricated by a glass company and then framework completed by a finish carpenter. On either side of the white oak floating vanity and through the sliding barn doors are his and hers closets.

Beautiful home! I’m curious how the folks get to the items and books in the two sections of the bookcase on the stairwell.

Thank you. This was a fun project. This house was a remodel and we relocated the stairs. This was a space was available because we couldn’t move the stairs closer to the back wall due to the space needed on the main floor. So it was either drywall it in, or take advantage of the space and do a display shelf cabinet. To answer your question, yes obviously, you wouldn’t be accessing things very often, but you would need a ladder.
