CarsonSpeer Builders is responsible for the design of this beautiful modern farmhouse home nestled on 150 acres in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. Created for a family of five, this two-story home has four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. Custom designed to meet the lifestyle needs of the owners, there is a total of 4,226 square feet of heated living space and a total of 7,423 square feet under roof.
The walls and roof deck are filled with spray foam insulation and the crawl space is sealed which makes for a very efficient, tight, and comfortable home. The exposed rafters and brackets are all cedar and the beams and columns are PVC. The board and batten and all other exterior trim materials are fiber cement Hardi products.
The windows and sliding doors are all clad Quaker products. One of the homeowner’s favorite features is the outdoor shower. There are two connected wells and an elaborate water system consisting of two 2,500 gallon tanks stationed in the woods that provides water for the home and irrigation.

What We Love: This modern farmhouse offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere with charming details throughout. Soaring ceilings help to keep this home feeling light and airy while large windows capture views of the surrounding forest. We are loving the large covered porch to provide shelter from the elements while offering plenty of space for relaxation and family gatherings. The screened porch is an idyllic spot to enjoy the outdoors while being protected from the elements.

The hardwoods are Northern White Oak of random widths that fit with the modern farmhouse feel of the open floor plan. The stair railing was inspired by a design the homeowner had seen on Pinterest and is a favorite of all who visit the home.

Above: This expansive front porch connects the farmhouse to the garage while offering shelter and relaxation. The PVC columns and beams were selected for their durability and minimal maintenance. A bench swing provides a comfortable spot to enjoy nature. The porch also has rain chains, which are a more attractive and functional alternative to the traditional, closed gutter downspouts.
