Eskuche Design Group in collaboration with Studio M Interiors has designed this mountain style lake house located in International Falls, Minnesota. Nestled on the edge of a granite cliff, this home was entrenched in its site to take advantage of the panoramic views of Rainy Lake.
Surrounded by tamarack forests and granite outcroppings, this beautiful family home showcases a refined, modern take on the mountain style with rich tones and a material palette that seamlessly blends with the site. This phenomenally designed home encompasses 9,803 square feet of living space, boasting five bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
Before constructing this home, the architect walked the property, which sits at the edge of a granite cliff. The vision was to position the primary rooms to capitalize on the views. The architect used three-dimensional modeling to site the windows’ elevation to take advantage of the sunset hour views. The outdoors was invited inside through the use of exterior cladding the mimics the tamarack bark.
The finished result is nothing short of spectacular, with careful attention to detail throughout the design. For the architect, the husband’s lower-level office with its adjacent spirits room created for sampling blends from local distilleries is his favorite design feature.
What We Love: This mountain style lake house perched on a rocky outcropping is surrounded by the most breathtaking, nature-filled views. The heavy architectural lines of mountain style are softened with layers of texture and material elements that help to meld this dwelling with its surroundings.
