Tharon Anderson is responsible for the interior design and styling of this beautiful and inviting Nantucket summer house. This beach house is nestled on Nantucket, a tiny island off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The charming yet expansive property is home to a couple who sought a summer house on the island where the wife spent her childhood.
Constructed in 1927, the main house had relatively low ceilings and dark wood floors. The designers principle goal was to brighten the interiors and flood the living spaces with natural light. Offering 4,500 square feet of living space, this fabulous retreat has six-bedrooms, a pool house and a cabana.
In contrast to the classic shingle exterior, the interior is fresh, light and understated, providing a tranquil and uplifting space to spend quality time with family and entertain friends. Above: In the entry, the wallpaper is a grass cloth by Sally King Benedict.
One of the most impactful changes came by way of painting all the floors white. The designers kept the general palette neutral throughout, except for thoughtful interjections of seafoams and blues, complemented by natural materials such as linen and jute.
These selections enhanced the casual, coastal cottage feel โ appropriate given the propertyโs proximity to the ocean and the relaxed nature of its owners.
