This beautifully renovated home by Coates Design Architects offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for family living, located in Seattle, Washington. This renovation went beyond the average remodel; it was a complete “lifestyle correction”, as the homeowner put it. The existing dwelling was devoid of a central space for family members to naturally congregate, it was uncomfortable and confining.
The homeowners were open to dramatic change, so the project team embraced this opportunity, removing walls and raising ceilings to create an open concept plan. In this 3,200 square foot home (including the lower level), 13-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows create a sense of spaciousness and light while creating a new focal space where the family could gather in the home.
Radiant floor heating was installed, creating efficient use of energy and reduction of utility bills. At night the home glows like a lantern, embodying a strong sense of warmth and openness. Asian influences were used throughout the design process to create feelings of serenity and tranquility. The result is a home in which the family truly feels comfortable in.
What We Love: This beautifully renovated home offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for family living. The refreshed layout is open and airy with clean lines and modern details. We are especially loving the aesthetics of the exterior facade, with a brilliant mix of materials and a fabulous deck. Overall, the architects have done a fabulous job of maximizing living space and bringing new life into an existing home.
