Christmas has come to this old farmhouse in Spain that had been abandoned for forty years and took three years to transform, where no detail was overlooked. The homeowner had looked for an old house to transform into a comfortable place where their daughters could enjoy nature and they could entertain. This house was an agricultural farmhouse with additives. The homeowner supervised the work while taking care of decorating it and buying all of the furnishings.
Most of the Christmas decorations seen throughout this old farmhouse are handmade. Continue below to see the rest of this inspiring home…
During the renovation phase of this old farmhouse, she would visit one day week and, in parallel, she was acquiring the furniture, the lamps, the details. She would fall in love with a piece and bought it, not knowing where she would put it! Yet, mysteriously, everything fit by itself. The goal of this reform was to achieve bright and welcoming environments while respecting this home’s long history. If a nail on the wall didn’t bother, then it stayed there. Maybe it has been there for two hundred years…
The ground floor was occupied by stables and warehouses, and today it is a hospitable welcome area, with entrances from the street and the garden. The first floor encompasses the main living spaces: living room, dining room, and kitchen. On the second floor of this old farmhouse, the old attic now houses the bedrooms. The girls’ bedrooms open out to a balcony.
Very close to the bedrooms is a workshop, with a work table on easels, in which her imagination can fly, creating her artisan pieces. She has always enjoyed working with her hands, making personal decorative objects. She dedicates herself to it in La Cuillère de Sucre and her shop, Esther & Martin, specializing in paper and cardboard objects and designs — where she has united her hobby and her work.
