This fabulous mountain modern home is owned by interior designer Julie Roitman of Studio XO, located in the Red Sky Ranch community of Wolcott, Colorado. Nestled on the 18th hole of a championship course designed by Tom Fazio, this family home is surrounded by rolling hills dotted with aspen forests, juniper and sagebrush. The interiors of this 8,700 square foot dwelling offers five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, an open family area/game room, movie theater and a hot tub on the rear patio.
Uninspired by the mountain homes of the past that are dark and heavy, the designer opted for bright and airy living spaces. The homeowners wanted to create a mountain modern home with rustic touches, giving it more of a ranch/farmhouse feel. An overall aesthetic provides a haven of relaxation, warm and cozy spaces that are refined yet inviting.
The surrounding landscape and nature inspired the interior decorating scheme. Exterior elements have been brought into the home, including several stone walls. Another great example is the great room fireplace and the flagstone entry/mudroom area as well as the decks. The designer focused on creating light-filled living spaces that maximized an indoor-outdoor connection.
What We Love: This gorgeous mountain home in Colorado offers cozy yet chic living spaces and mesmerizing views throughout. Comfortable and spacious interiors are perfect for family living. The wonderful indoor-outdoor connection brings in both nature and natural light, a great update from dark and heavy mountain homes of the past.

The homeowner’s favorite room in this dwelling is the great room. The seamless indoor-outdoor connection, soaring ceilings and the overall warm and cozy feel of the space. Expansive glass doors in the kitchen and great room disappear into the walls, allowing the home’s inhabitants to enjoy the stunning views of the landscape — open or closed.
This cozy dwelling offers chic accessories at every turn. This includes unique chandeliers and a wonderful art collection adorning the walls. In the master bathroom, (shown above) hangs a black and white photograph of the beautiful Brigitte Bardot. The designer wanted to have stunning interiors while still catering to her large family. With four children, this home needed to be comfortable and fun for them as well! The future plan will likely turn this into a retirement home, where kids and grandkids can come to visit.
