This stunning beachfront hideaway was designed by Ike Kligerman Barkley, located in Sagaponack, a village in Eastern Long Island, New York. The waterfront property presents a perfect balance of “fully expressed shingle classicism outside, and a spare, cool modernity within. The shingled exterior borrows details from historic architecture, while interior spaces are distinctly modern, combining understatement and luxury.”
The homeowners, a couple from Boston with three grown children, were looking for their seaside home to have an English-style cottage on the exterior—yet more casual, relaxing space on the interior. A place where, when the kids come to visit, they can kick off their shoes and head for the beach. The idea was not to have a big, fancy beach home, rather something that was more laid-back, breezy and simple. The result is a home that is in perfect harmony with its surroundings, charming on the outside and very inviting on the inside.
What We Love: This beautiful beachfront hideaway appears just as inviting and cozy from the outside as it does from the moment of entry. From the stunning hardwood staircase at the front entryway to the light and breezy living spaces, every detail is exquisite in this vacation home. The kitchen is every chef’s dream and the master bedroom is completely dreamy… readers, what do you think? What details in this home stand out to you?
