Chalet the Cross is a luxury mountain chalet designed by architecture studio Refuge, located in the heart of Megève, a ski resort village in the Alps of southeastern France. The challenge of this project was to create a unique cottage design that is far from the traditional codes of the mountain chalet. The result is a prestigious villa of 3,767 square feet (350 square meters) of living space spread out over three levels in the heart of Megève. This was considered an iconic achievement for architects, which included not only their expertise and creativity but also their values of a certain art of living in the mountains.
The architects approach as well as their choices were fed by an intense search for rare and luxurious materials. They applied new coatings that are outside of the mainstream: Eramosa stone, which is a brown Limestone from Canada (the grain imitates that of wood), Carrara marble blasted at high pressure, unpublished wallpapers or weathered cork. The chalet also features carefully selected, high-end furnishings throughout.
What We Love: This home features all of the amenities and fine design that you would expect to see in a luxury mountain chalet. With natural material elements of wood and stone adding visual warmth to this ski resort property. Beautiful furnishings that provide comfort and luxury are just the beginning of what this home has to offer. A layering of textures adds depth and interest to this stunning property.
