Backen & Gillam Architect, in collaboration with BK Interior Design, has created this gorgeous wine country retreat for a young family of five, situated in Sonoma, California. Structured as a series of smaller dwellings, each of the individual structures is characterized by its own style, which helps to reinforce its function. Together, they work in harmony to create a fun and playful weekend retreat for friends and family to enjoy.

The interior spaces are designed with a neutral color palette and contemporary scheme with comfortable furnishings and minimal decor. A swimming pool and pool house provide hours of entertainment, along with a games room to keep both adults and children happy. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces to spend time interacting with one another and have private spaces for alone time. Sliding glass doors help to extend interior spaces to the outdoors, blurring the lines between indoors and out.

Since the home is located in beautiful wine country, the interiors reflect the beauty that surrounds the home. With stone walls, soaring ceilings with wood trusses and elegant chandeliers, the open plan living and kitchen area reflect a comfortable atmosphere that is aesthetically pleasing. A sliding glass door completely opens this space up to an outdoor terrace, extending the living space and making entertaining a breeze.

What We Love: A soothing color palette, relaxing and livable spaces… and we love the way the designers use sliding glass panels to open all of the individual structures up to the outside and extend the living outwards. This beautiful retreat in Sonoma wine country is perfect for enjoying time in the entertainment/game room with family and friends.
