This uplifting two bedroom contemporary apartment has recently undergone a visually pleasing renovation and extension by Olga Akulova Design, located in Kiev, Ukraine. The apartment was originally just one bedroom residing in a postwar structure. Taking a year to complete the transformation, the primary concern was to gain extra space in the home to create a guest room and extend the kitchen. The designer used the space between two balconies that were on opposing sides of the structure, with one facing the street and the other, an interior courtyard. The whole interior structure was brought down to the studs, therefor the design team was able to conceive a brand new layout for the floor plan. The finished design encompassed a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, guest bedroom and separate bathroom and a dressing room, while the remainder of the space is an open concept plan with dining room, living room and kitchen.
What We Love: Clean lines, stylish and inviting furnishings, this home was transformed into a comfortable, low-maintanence apartment that makes it easy to enjoy an active, busy lifestyle. A warm, soothing color palette creates a welcoming aesthetic that is very homey feeling. We love how the designers maximized every square inch to give the homeowner plenty of space to not feel crammed and have all the necessary rooms to enjoy their living environment. To add to this, the lighting scheme is very pleasant, setting a nice ambiance that is warm and cozy. What do you think of this home, is there anything that you like or do not like about it?
