Elegant California home showcasing a wabi-sabi aesthetic

Elegant-House-Interiors-Rachel Laxer-01-1 Kindesign

Warm elegance, relaxed interiors, luxury finishes and luminoscity defines this wabi-sabi style home designed by Rachel Laxer Interiors, located in Silicon Valley, California. The architectural design of this Northern California project had begun eight years ago, slowly but surely. The designer was brought in to work on the interiors of this family home with two children. She was given absolute freedom to create what she considered suitable for the lifestyle needs of her clients who loved the style of relaxed elegance which characterizes the interior. The objective for the interiors of the project was to create a warm and welcoming, open plan space where the indoor / outdoor California living lifestyle is incorporated into the design. The starting point to the design of this project began with the surrounding environment. The design scheme reflects a Japanese wabi wabi style, which focuses on an aesthetic centered on the transience and imperfection. The fiished result is a stylish family home with an understated elegance, illuminated by natural light.

man, this is really nice work; modern with warmth and bathed in natural light. i really like the use of wengé (my favorite wood), which contrasts to the lighter tones to project the overall sense of warmth. i am assuming that the “wengé” is actually stained white oak since actual wengé would fade unless the windows use UV-blocking laminated glass.
