This completely stunning beach bungalow has received a complete modern makeover by New York-based Anna Burke Interiors, located in Palm Beach, Florida. The two bedroom 1930s cottage was in need of a major overhaul, after being purchased by a young Manhattan businessman who was looking for a charming vacation retreat on the beach. The designer took 60 days to complete the project, which encompassed a gut renovation of the kitchen and bathrooms, modernized all amenities and re-configured the floor plan by tearing down a wall that opened the space up and brought the sunshine in. The cottage showcases ten foot high ceilings through the majority of the rooms which allows the home to feel more spacious. The home has some elegance to it, yet it is still streamlined enough to be manageable. Window treatments of woven-wood shades helped to give privacy yet still allow natural light when it was needed. In the living room, a stunning art form chandelier graces the ceiling, sculpted from pieces of sandblasted grape wood. The designer used a seaside-inspired color palette of blues and whites, with a dusting of driftwood and rattan. Keeping the continuity of the design aesthetic, the furnishings were selected with a singular style and color palette. Since this is a vacation retreat, the designer took the liberty of adding some resort-style appeal in the bedrooms.
