The spacious two-storey interior features cozy and welcoming design with warm wooden flooring throughout, neutral color scheme with colorful texture and materials flourishing around every corner.
What We Love: This modern Texas farmhouse is beautifully sited amongst a stand of old growth oak tree. The setting creates a welcoming environment into a home that is warm, comfortable and wonderfully designed. Materials used in this home are very minimal yet eye-catching in every detail. Overall the architects did a fantastic job of creating a stunning farmhouse design, ideal for family living and entertaining.

Above: The driveway of this modern Texas farmhouse consists of 1″ of pea gravel over compacted limestone road base. Roof is Barridge panel, color Lead-Cote. Stone cladding on the exterior facade is Leuder limestone, while siding is Hardie siding with mitered corners. Reveal has an 8″ exposure. Siding is painted in Benjamin Moore, Gray Mist. Breezeway roof slope is 3/12; house and garage are 10/12.
Above: The front of the house faces southeast; the 8′ overhang helps at the large expanses of entry glass. Front door is painted in Naples Blue 2057-30 | Benjamin Moore.
Above: The interior paint color used throughout this home is White Dove OC-17 | Benjamin Moore. The laundry/mud room is beyond the Creme Limestone wall. The Chevron table is from Mockingbird Domestics, in Austin. Light fixture above the table was a custom design through Olampia NYC. Above the door is a perforated panel behind which lies a large return air intake for the HVAC, from McNichols.
Above: The living room has a clear floor dimension of 16’x22′. The plan works well because circulation flows around the stair. Chair and media cabinet are from Room and Board, while the sofa was purchased from Ethan Allen. The window at the stair is a mahogany frame stained black, with wire glass panels. It was custom made, approximately 5′ tall x 7′ wide. Grounding this space is and area rug from Bellbridge Carpets: “Cumulus Cloud Rug”, sized to order.
Above: The island is 3’3″ wide x 8′ long. corner legs are 4″ square. The pendant over the island is a vintage fixture. Counter stools are from West Elm.
Above: Kitchen counter top is Absolute Black Granite, honed finish. Backsplash tile is Walker Zanger, Studio Moderne, 6×10 tile, Blonde Gloss. Base cabinets are painted in Dolphin AF-715 | Benjamin Moore, while the upper cabinets match the walls and trim, White Dove OC-17 | Benjamin Moore. The long hardware pull is from Sun Valley Bronze.
Above: Wall sconces above the banquette are from Schoolhouse Electric. Shelves are custom, steel. Dining chairs are from Room and Board. On the built-in banquette, the fabric is Santa Barbara Pewter from Link Outdoor. The windows are wood with aluminum cladding on the exterior, manufactured by Windsor. Shades are from The Shade Store. Flooring is 5″ walnut planks, sealed with Bona Traffic, water-based product.
Above: The desk top is composed of solid walnut boards.
Above: Stair landing is framed with 2×6 joists running the short direction. 12 risers at 7″5/8 gave the clearance to achieve 7′ clear below. Flooring is natural walnut, 5″ planks, clear finish. Interior paint color is Benjamin Moore, White Dove. Interior windows are constructed of mahogany by the contractor.
Above: In the kids playroom, the table and poufs is from Room and Board. Paint color on the walls is Benjamin Moore, AF-425 Anjou pear. Ceiling is 1×6 white pine, T&G boards. The rug company is Dash and Albert.
Above: The floor lamp is from Nessen; available through the design trade, while the arm chair is from West Elm. Dresser is from Room & Board. Grounding the space is and area rug by Calvin Klein home collection. Utilitarian barn door track sits in pocket, measuring 7′-4″ tall x 3′-6″ wide. This master bedroom is 16′ long x 13′ wide. Floor is walnut with a clear finish.
Above: Bathroom wall tile is Walker Zanger, Studio Moderne, color Mica Gloss, approx. 4″x5″. Counter top is Caesar Stone, color Cinder. Sink is from Lacava, while the vanity is 7′ long x 20″ deep. Above the vanity, the lights are from Restoration Hardware. The tub is from Sunrise Specialty. Floors are walnut hardwood.
Above: The porch is concrete with a brushed finish, while the porch light is from Schoolhouse Electric. Entry door is clad in black aluminum from Kolbe. Landscape designer was David Wilson Garden Design, in Austin.
