Decorator Ksenia Nikitina and her husband Ken bought this family duplex apartment in Moscow, Russia with stunning panoramic views. Spotted on AD Magazine, the home features a living room and dining room as well as a rooftop terrace with incredible city views. Since there was so much glass in the apartment, it made it much more difficult for the decorator when planning to separate rooms with walls. She decided to leave the first floor, which is public spaces, as an open space plan, with a dining room, study and spacious living room separated by bi-fold doors. The second floor was a lot more challenging, where the master bedroom, childrenโs game room and her two sonโs rooms are located. The result was a very clever design, where the decorator tried to bring the wall to the window frames, and because of this, the game room on one wall makes a king of zigzag which she concealed with a closet.
The decorator said she did not want to get hung up on any particular design style, she wanted to make the apartment a modern, comfortable living environment for children and not very technological. Floors are treated with oak planks and there are an abundance of paintings and posters that decorate the walls by Nikolai Zagrekov, which was inherited by her husband. There are also antiques and a collection of Russian applied art splashed throughout the home, picked up from travels. To highlight the art, walls were painted in white and a neutral shade of gray, and cabinetry was built-in. The furnishings are relaxing and fun, complimenting the fabulous art. The home is the perfect blend for children and adults to enjoy their separate entertaining spaces.
