Silk Cavassa Marchetti Architecture & Interiors, along with Dowbuilt, designed this timeless home located on Bainbridge Island, a scenic and charming destination near Seattle, Washington. The homeowners desired a home that was timeless and would be enjoyed by their family for many generations.
It was designed after the shingled homes built for summer use on the shores of the Atlantic at the turn of the 1900s. It is located on a private lane and faces south, taking full advantage of the views of Puget Sound and Mount Rainier. Continue below to see the rest of this gorgeous home tour…

Every effort was made to enhance the traditional, handcrafted qualities of this home, including interior walls covered with simple wood paneling and many other craftsman-style features.

The Dutch door entry is flanked by large side lights, which bring in light and allow views through the classically proportioned two-story entry into the living room and the water beyond.

White-painted projecting bays are used to gain light and a view on three sides, as well as providing the detailing that gives the home its timeless quality.

The design centers around the living room, flanked on one side by the kitchen/breakfast nook and the library/TV area, with an adjoining sunroom on the other.

What We Love: This timeless home on Bainbridge Island features sun-drenched living spaces that feel open and inviting. Cozy corners throughout the home offer relaxing spots with a view. Every detail was thoughtfully designed to capture the beautiful afternoon light. We especially love the kitchen, with its unique hood design over the range and exquisite light fixture that also serves as a convenient pot rack over the island.
