Rachel Madden Interiors has built her personal family home, a traditional-style home that blends thoughtful architectural details with custom features, in the Hidden Valley Estates neighborhood of Granite Bay, Northern California. Every space was carefully planned to create a home that seems cohesive, functional, and full of character.
About This Home
A complete teardown and renovation, the designer had a clear vision for the floor plan and set out to design a new build filled with unique architectural details and thoughtful touches.
From large windows framing magnificent views to varied ceiling treatments that add depth and character, every detail was carefully crafted. Each space was designed with furniture layouts in mind from the outset, ensuring seamless integration of architecture and interior design.
This was a true tribute to the designer’s belief that interior design should be considered alongside architectural plans from the outset. Every window, every door, was positioned with purpose, ideally complementing the spaces within.

What We Love About This Home
Every architectural detail in this traditional-style home, from the varied ceiling treatments and expansive windows to the custom built-ins and beadboard accents, was considered with both beauty and function in mind. The warm, earthy palette woven throughout creates an effortless sense of cohesion from room to room. Standout spaces include the stunning kitchen with its plaster range hood and marble countertops, the cozy family room with its wall-to-wall built-ins and window seat, and the covered outdoor dining area that feels like a natural extension of the home.
