Stofft Cooney Architects, along with Nautilus Home, has designed this refined British West Indies home, shaped entirely by its landscape and set beneath preserved heritage live oaks in Cherokee Park, a picturesque bayside community in Sarasota, Florida. Set on a 30,000-square-foot corner property, the home was planned around mapped and preserved trees, allowing roots and branches to guide its orientation, footprint, and rhythm.
The result is a residence that feels grown from the land—anchored, enduring, and deeply connected to its setting. Expressed in a refined British West Indies style, the 6,100-square-foot home stands elevated yet warm and welcoming. Continue below to see more of this unbelievable home…

A discreet side-street four-car garage preserves a gracious, human-scaled facade that is in keeping with the family-centered character of Cherokee Park.

Inside, expansive steel windows and doors flood the interiors with light and frame views of the oaks, the pool terrace, and the spa. A hand-carved fireplace, coffered ceilings, and a dramatic curved staircase rising beside the largest oak reinforce the home’s balance of refinement and ease.

Throughout, the home is formal yet relaxed—an enduring addition to one of Sarasota’s most cherished neighborhoods.

Drawing inspiration from the Abaco Islands, the home gracefully unites historical elegance and modern simplicity, creating a luxurious waterfront retreat.

What We Love About This Home
Shaped by the property’s heritage oaks, this refined British West Indies–style home is thoughtfully rooted in the landscape, light, and family living. Luminous living spaces, seamless indoor-outdoor connections, and a carefully considered scale create a home that feels timeless, grounded, and inviting. We especially love how the architecture embraces its natural surroundings, offering an effortless sense of elegance while remaining warm, livable, and deeply connected to everyday life.
