This expansive mountain house was completely reimagined by Farland Interiors, offering the epitome of luxury mountain living in the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana. Nestled amid the breathtaking landscapes of the Rocky Mountains, this retreat balances refined modern comfort with timeless alpine character, with soaring timber beams, rugged stonework, and thoughtfully layered interiors that create a warm, inviting escape in every season.
All-embracing interiors for an expansive mountain retreat were the directive for Soapstone. Our goal was to modernize the furnishings, lighting, and interiors throughout while keeping the original architectural timbers and stonework as the focal points. In this way, the designer transformed the home into a winter retreat where families and friends could gather in the mountains and enjoy time together, in what some have described as an inviting “castle in clouds.”

What We Love About This Home
This gorgeous mountain house in Montana checks all the right boxes: stunning location, exquisite finishes, luxe furnishings, and stylish yet ultra-comfortable and inviting. Large windows invite the magnificent view inside while bringing in plenty of natural light. Overall, we are loving every detail of this remodel project, especially the great room with its stone-clad fireplace, built-in window seat for soaking in the views, and the hanging swing for a cool, playful element.

Above: The swing, custom-fabricated by Green Seam Designs, offers a playful, engaging, and unique architectural element in this inviting living room. The more industrial steel frame is balanced by a softer upholstered seat in La Maison Pierre Frey fabric, with jumbo fringe trim from Samuel & Sons. The handcrafted light fixtures suspended from above are by Roll & Hill.

Above: There are so many beautiful elements combined together to create this stunning entrance moment. On the wall, a Kyle Bunting Black Dog houndstooth hide wallcovering sets the mood. The custom-designed walnut console with a white resin accent, sourced from Green Seam Designs, perfectly complements the Idefix bench from BEdesign. The finishing touch is the custom Gemsbok Horn wall sconce, locally sourced from Fish Fisher.
