Hutker Architects, together with Sea-Dar Construction, crafted this beach-style house to capture the harbor view from every vantage point in Woods Hole, a place in the town of Falmouth in Barnstable County, Massachusetts. What began as a simple renovation to an existing summer home evolved into a complete redesign. By keeping the existing footprint, but raising the main floor a full two feet to the allowable limit, views of the harbor were instantly granted to every room.
The team was able to grant the home a new identity, expand its capacity for guests, and create a third-story escape complete with a widow’s walk that offers 360-degree views. White cedar shingles on the home’s exterior marry with the local vernacular, while oak paneling and a dramatic light-filled stair tower make more elegant, contemporary statements.

The house contains five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a game room, a wine cellar, a wet bar, a family room, a living room, a few sitting rooms, a media room, an exercise room, a dining room, a large kitchen with an island, five roof decks, a pool house and a guest suite complete with its own dining room, living room, two bedrooms and a full bath.
Coffered ceilings, a large modern fireplace, and dramatic windows define the formal living areas. A massive stone fireplace is the highlight of the al fresco lounge, and the infinity pool, situated outside the family room, offers an uninterrupted view of the water beyond.
What We Love: This Massachusetts beach house offers a beautifully reimagined home that maximizes views of the harbor while providing warm and inviting living spaces. The new floor plan layout has a harmonious floor that is perfect for comfortable living and entertaining with idyllic seaside views. We are loving the inviting fireplaces, both indoors and out, and the cozy reading nook on the upper level, a perfect spot to enjoy a lazy afternoon!
