Jessica Nelson Design completely transformed this historic fixer-upper in Seattle, Washington. It needed significant love to restore it to its original charm. The designer tore down the wall between the kitchen and dining room and brought all the character back into the home with lots of fun details and timeless materials.
The main floor bath was also completely remodeled, and the designer brought in brand-new furnishings and decor throughout the living spaces. Rich colors and warm wood tones brought this 1920’s house back to life, continue below to see more of this home transformation…
What We Love: This historic Seattle fixer-upper was beautifully restored to its former glory with new furnishings and accessories, fresh paint, and attention to detail throughout. We especially love the kitchen with its entertaining corner featuring a custom home bar, built-in banquette, and mix of blue cabinetry and warm wood tones, and the rounded door to the backyard is so charming. Overall, the designer did a fabulous job of updating this home to better meet the lifestyle needs of its inhabitants.

Above: A milky shade of medium blue offers a strong contrast while maintaining a softer appearance in a bright, open kitchen. Designer Jessica Nelson applied the same paint to both the base cabinetry and the kitchen island to create definition in this predominantly white space, which is complemented by warm wood and woven accents. Similar Paint Colors: Blue Nose 1678—Benjamin Moore (cabinets); White Dove OC-17—Benjamin Moore (walls).
Above: One of the interior designer’s favorite kitchen must-haves, is a huge island for hosting family and friends.
Above: The counter stools with leather are a great way to add depth and interest to your kitchen. We love the contrast with the navy cabinets and white stone countertops.
