Designed by Fiorentino Group Architects, this transitional custom home is a country estate nestled on the banks of the adjacent river, in Dover, New Hampshire. The homeowners desired a state-of-the-art retirement home offering numerous amenities for living and entertaining, while taking full advantage of sweeping southern water views.
The design consists of a contemporary massing enveloped with traditional New England detailing and materials. The port cochere welcomes visitors into the main house to enjoy a two-story living space, a three-season sunroom, a golf simulator room, a home theater, a wine cellar, and a fitness area.
In the summer, guests are invited to enjoy an infinity-edge swimming pool, tennis and bocce courts, chipping and putting greens, vegetable and flower gardens, and multiple patio areas while residing at the adjacent guest house. Be sure to continue below to see the guest house!
A Porte Cochere With Beautiful Curb Appeal

Above: The door assembly is mahogany, the white trim above the door is AZEK, and the porte cochere ceiling is 1×4 fir bead board.
A Porch Decked Out In Comfy Furniture

Above: The cedar shake color is Van Deusen Blue (Ben Moore: HC-156). The beige stone came from a quarry in New Hampshire, and the black stone from a quarry in Maine. This porch ceiling is Fir 1 x 6 tongue and groove edge and center bead exposed with a Tung Oil finish. The homeowners worked with Hill Road Lighting Design to choose all lighting fixtures for the home. The exterior light mounts are 5/4 inch AZEK panels with copper head flashing to prevent water infiltration.

Above: The stair treads are maple. The balusters were custom-made by a local blacksmith. On the ceiling, mahogany was used in this application, which has that natural variation. The wall paint color is Palladian Blue HC-144 | Benjamin Moore.
A Living Room With a Story to Tell

What We Love About This Home
There is so much to love about this extraordinary river home in New Hampshire. The porte-cochere entry sets an immediate tone of grandeur. Inside, the soaring great room, with its mahogany ceiling, custom blacksmith-made balusters, and a canoe suspended overhead as art, is simply stunning. The four-season sunroom with its cathedral ceiling and wraparound river views is the kind of room you never want to leave… and the fisherman’s mudroom with its custom ceiling rod rack, cedar-lined walls, and barrel storage is perfect for a home overlooking a river.
