This new Colonial Revival farmhouse, designed by Mackin Architects, is set on a lake with acres of equestrian paddocks and meadows surrounding the main house in Kent, Connecticut. The homeowner wanted a home that would serve as a family compound for all generations.
The architects recommended a historically inspired home in a regional colonial style, with an attached barn, to fully take advantage of the large open spaces and lake views.
Upon entering the home, you can see the lake from the front door and throughout as you pass through the spaces. The focus is on a large, open entertaining space, as well as private areas and niches throughout the house, such as the reading nook overlooking the main family room.
The interior styling of the shared spaces relates to the section of the house in which it is contained. The open barn section also allows you the ability to experience the Historic Farmhouse from the interior. A barn silo was created to house an observatory.
